Biographical Notes
ROBERTO NICOLAI Roberto Nicolai is professor of Greek language and
literature at the Università di Roma “La Sapienza”. He is director of
the journal “Seminari Romani di Cultura Greca” and an advisor for
several other journals. His chief areas of interest are historiography
and geography in the Greek world, epic and dramatic poetry, and an-
cient rhetoric. His publications include La storiografia nell’educazione
antica (1992) and Studi su Isocrate (2004).
BERNHARD ZIMMERMANN studied classical philology and ancient his-
tory at Konstanz and London. He obtained his PhD in 1983 and be-
came full professor of classical philology at the Albert-Ludwigs Uni-
versity of Freiburg in 1997. His chief areas of interest are ancient
drama, Greek choral poetry, and the reception of the ancient literary
tradition in German literature.
PAUL DEMONT (http://demontpaul.monsite-orange.fr/) is Professor of
Ancient Greek at Sorbonne Université and Head of the Doctoral
School for Ancient and Mediaeval Worlds. One of his interests is the
reception of antiquity in the 20th century (e.g. Th. Mann, H. Arendt,
A. Camus, C. Meier).
ROMEO BUFALO teaches Aesthetics at the Dipartimento di Studi
Umanistici, Università della Calabria. He directs the series Collana di
studi di Estetica «Il bosco sacro» (Aracne, Rome) and the series «Pen-
satori calabresi» (IlTesto editor, online). He is a member of the
advisory board of the «bollettino filosofico» and a member of the So-
cietà Italiana d’Estetica. His research mostly focuses on the sensitive
and phenomenal sphere of experience. He has written about the
aesthetics of comedy and the interrelations between pleasure and
beauty in the modern age, focusing, among others, on Kant, Hegel,
