EDITORIAL
This issue of Costellazioni hosts a special monographic section devoted
to an up-and-coming domain of studies driven by the remarkable re-
sults achieved by a group of researchers interested in the neuro-
sciences area which has a racted the a ention of several scholars in
the humanities.
In recent years, research in this groundbreaking domain has ini-
tiated a stimulating debate which quickly developed as new findings
in neurology and biochemistry were made, and as a growing need was
felt to enlarge the scope and compass of the humanities, which have
traditionally always been open and quick to take into due considera-
tion advancements in the natural sciences.
For several reasons we believe such debate should encouraged,
especially the literary perspective, if anything for the intrinsic interest
of the complexities which this kind of research involves and the abun-
dance of data it produces – all to the benefit of integrated approaches.
Costellazioni is therefore glad to contribute the present collection
of studies to its public and will welcome further reflections and debate
on the subject. It is also to this end that we have allowed extra space
to bibliographic information as an aid to prospective research in the
field, convinced as we are that the interdisciplinary approach is always
productive not only to foster and nurture knowledge but also as a gen-
eral approach to our understanding of human nature.
